This is a documentary that could've been a afterschool PSA, but Naponse resists the uplift trap—there's no orchestral swell, no redemption arc, just kids being real in a space that actually sees them. It's boring on paper and somehow radical in execution.
A formally restrained portrait of pedagogical space that echoes the observational documentary tradition while honoring Indigenous epistemology; the editing refuses sentimentality, letting duration and presence do the ethical work.
Naponse's decision to hold on the students' faces and voices without intervention—no music, no narrative voiceover—turns a 10-minute day into something that feels like trust being earned in real time.
