The scouts
It's a cute premise that lands exactly where you'd expect—kid wants to escape chores, kid goes to zoo—and there's nothing here that subverts the fantasy-escapism trope enough to justify the runtime. Golubeva's competent, but competent isn't interesting.
A formally assured children's fantasy with clear lineage to Eastern European stop-motion and absurdist fables; the craft is undeniable, but it inhabits well-worn territory without enough formal innovation to distinguish itself in the canon.
The genius is in the sound design—those deadpan parental voices droning on while Sasha's world literally transforms into a zoo around her, no cutting away needed—that single tonal choice makes the escape feel interior and earned rather than merely whimsical.
