Red Monkey & Green Heart - The Island

The scouts

A children's adventure that plays it completely straight — twee characters, island discovery, probably a life lesson waiting at the end. It's competent enough, but there's nothing here that makes me want to argue about it later.

The whimsy lands with a practiced hand, and the animation shows clear lineage to fable-based shorts, though the formal choices feel assured rather than surprising; a well-made entry in a familiar register.

That four-minute runtime is doing real work — Velez commits to a single contemplative beat instead of padding the adventure out, and the restraint is what gives this its melancholy spine.
