Embry's conscience takes shape as her two guardians, the angel Ava and the demon Mal, in a story about telling right from wrong and the flaws that make us human.

The angel-and-demon shoulder conscience is so aggressively tired that it loops back around to interesting — but only if you're watching for how Harder subverts the talking heads into something genuinely unsettling, which the runtime barely lets her do.
A cleanly executed entry in the morality-play tradition, with theatrical staging that honors its lineage to medieval debate structures, though the execution lands closer to greeting card than interrogation.
The entire film lives or dies on the casting choice between Ava and Mal, and Harder commits fully to making them feel like fractured reflections of the same person rather than stock archetypes — that tonal unity in a five-minute frame is the decision that almost gets you there.
