Yes the title is the premise. No it isn't only a gag — Daddona snuck a real depression movie into the Furby suit and dared you to notice.
Daddona and Wilder's commitment to the bit is total — suicidal woman meets man-sized Furby is exactly the kind of premise that either becomes a cult artifact or a Sundance midnight one-liner.
A six-foot handmade Furby suit carrying a grief-and-mental-illness love story through passion, codependence, resentment — leaning fully into the unhinged conceit with color and pizazz is exactly how this kind of swing pays off.
Reviews
Reveling in its unhinged conceit, the film is brimming with color and visual pizazz and unafraid to lean into nonsensical zigzags and ludicrous mask/prop making.
