Genres: drama
Tones: contemplative, melancholic, tender
Frankie, a fixture of a small beach town, is rattled when he learns a longtime acquaintance may have died and fixates on an unfinished transaction with the man. What first reads as petty self-interest gradually reveals a man reckoning with his own mortality and place in a town built for living in the moment.

A film that could've been maudlin local-legend nostalgia instead becomes something genuinely unsettling—the brilliance is in how Creigh lets Frankie's petty fixation *be* the portal to something darker, refusing to sentimentalize either the man or the town.
Creigh positions himself thoughtfully within the tradition of intimate island portraiture and mortality cinema, executing restraint with the precision of someone who knows exactly which moments to hold and which to release.
The decision to cast Frank Costello as himself—not playing, existing—creates a friction that dissolves the boundary between documentary and fiction, and that single tonal instability is what makes the whole small film breathe.
Reviews
Another great short I enjoyed at TIFF. Frank's performance as a local legend was great.
