Sickly
2021 · 10m · USA
Directed by Byron Leon
A man convinced his flu is something worse claws through New York's healthcare gauntlet — Uber drivers, dismissive nurses, locked doors. Shot on long lenses like a paranoid thriller, made pre-Covid and unnervingly prescient.

Made before Covid and somehow more accurate than anything made during it. Felix loves a film that mistakes a head cold for the apocalypse — and is somehow right.
Long-lens healthcare paranoia from the Safdie playbook, made pre-Covid, with a CVS-meets-Conversation premise — that's a formal gesture worth showing up for.
Long-lens medical-odyssey-as-paranoid-thriller is genuinely thrilling formal jujitsu — turning a CVS into a stakeout. The pre-Covid timing only sharpens it.
