The scouts
Two old women fishing and swapping secrets—sounds like a Hallmark card until you realize the film is deliberately withholding what the secret actually is, and that refusal to pay off the mystery is kind of brilliant, kind of maddening, exactly the move most scouts would call a flaw.
Cottu's restraint here is formally sophisticated: two minutes that know they're working in the tradition of Bressonian minimalism and Dardenne-school emotional precision, where what isn't said carries more weight than dialogue ever could.
The entire film hinges on a single choice—shooting across the water between them instead of cutting back and forth—which transforms the secret from plot device into spatial, almost philosophical territory, and that one framing decision is why this 2-minute sketch lands like feature work.
