The scouts

The premise is almost too on-the-nose—killer chases woman, woman learns to shoot—until you realize the film is betting everything on the absurdist friction between YouTube's cheerful DIY pedagogy and real-time survival panic, which is genuinely sick.

A taut genre exercise that understands the lineage of home-invasion and DIY-defense thrillers while finding formal tension in the specific constraint of the tutorial frame—seven minutes of escalating dread threaded through instructional rhythm.

The entire film hinges on the decision to let a tutorial video's calm voiceover run against the killer's approach in real time, turning pedagogical pacing into an instrument of horror—one sound design choice that does all the heavy lifting.
