The scouts
A factory drama about text messages sounds like the most boring elevator pitch imaginable, which is exactly why Monfajon and Janon's restraint works—they refuse to sensationalize the intrusion, letting the mundane industrial setting swallow the threat whole.
The film positions itself within a lineage of Dardenne-adjacent social realism, but its true sophistication lies in how it treats the smartphone not as plot device but as formal disruption—a visual and sonic rupture against the mechanical rhythms of labor.
The genius move is committing entirely to Suzanne's point-of-view: those text messages arrive as pure interruption on her factory line, and the decision to keep the stranger's face and voice abstracted transforms what could be thriller mechanics into something about vulnerability and attention itself.
Reviews
Par un dispositif simple, une mise en scène épurée et à la fois charnelle, les réalisateurs créent tout un univers dans le presque rien qui élargit le champ des émotions et donne au film toute sa dimension entre illusions et désillusions.
