The scouts
A blackout-as-existential-dread premise that could've been a generic home-invasion scare, but Álvarez Durán refuses to give you the invasion — just two people metabolizing fear in the dark, which is somehow more unsettling than any jump scare.
Formally precise in its restraint: the film understands the grammar of threshold cinema and uses negative space (literal and psychological) the way Polanski or Carpenter would, situating intimacy and terror in the same frame with disciplined economy.
The decision to keep the blackout *actually dark* — to trust the audience's eyes to adjust and the sound design to do the heavy lifting — is what transforms a two-hander into something genuinely claustrophobic; most films this small would've lit it, and lost everything.
