The Honest Movie
2026 · 10m · USA
Directed by Shae Sennett
Tones: contemplative, darkly comic, provocative
A young filmmaker named Finch documents her affair with an older filmmaker, confesses the infidelity to her boyfriend Ben, then promptly reconnects with the older filmmaker Randal. The 'honesty' of the title gets less and less reliable the more she films.

Onur Tukel showing up in a film about a young filmmaker's affair with an older filmmaker is the kind of casting joke I respect. Any movie titled 'The Honest Movie' is by definition lying, and I want to see exactly how.
Docu-fiction about the dishonesty of docu-fiction — the camera as confessional and weapon — is exactly the meta-frame Joanna Arnow's autofictional register pioneered, and Sennett seems to know the difference. Sharp self-awareness is the medium.
Docu-fiction about the dishonesty of docu-fiction where the camera is confessional and weapon — Sennett knows the difference, and the Onur Tukel casting as Randal is the right industry wink. Self-implicating without being smug.
