Two friends listen to a barista's fairytale — but not all is as it seems.

The unreliable fairytale framing is a decent subversion play, but it lands too softly—the reveal feels more like a twist than a genuine premise inversion, and I'm not convinced Chang commits hard enough to the weirdness.
Chang positions this within the lineage of frame-narrative fabulism with considerable formal grace; the barista-as-storyteller device echoes a long tradition of nested tales, executed here with admirable restraint and tonal control.
That two-minute runtime forces a single immaculate choice—the decision to let the barista's voice carry the entire emotional weight while the friends remain visual witnesses—and Chang trusts it completely, making dialogue economy do the work of character revelation.
