The scouts

Finally, a film that treats female embodiment as genuinely hilarious and unsettling at once—no moralizing, no male gaze softening, just women's actual thoughts about their actual bodies rendered in animation that refuses to be decorative.

The hybrid documentary-animation form sits thoughtfully in the lineage of feminist essay cinema, though the mixed-media execution occasionally feels decorative rather than formally justified—the candor of the women's voices demands a more rigorous visual argument.

The decision to let the women's unscripted conversation breathe over collage-based animation—rather than animate their words—makes the piece land; that restraint, that trust in the audio, transforms what could've been cute into something actually disarming and alive.
