The scouts

A transformation-machine romance sounds like exactly the kind of straightforward fairy-tale premise everyone else would greenlight, which is precisely why it's not for me—unless Lefranc does something genuinely weird with it, and I suspect she doesn't.

Felix

Lefranc works in the lineage of body-horror and coming-of-age allegory, but the film needs to interrogate whether the machine is wish-fulfillment or tragedy; the formal rigor will live or die on how the editing treats that moral ambiguity.

Margot

Two minutes is brutally short, so everything hinges on whether Lefranc makes one formally audacious choice—the specificity of how the transformation is shot, or a sound design decision, or a single reaction from the girl—that transforms a stock premise into something that *feels* earned rather than inevitable.
