Uncle Pete: "The Buscemi"
2014 · 10m · USA
Directed by Juan Iglesias
Tones: absurdist, humorous, whimsical
A woman fixated on Steve Buscemi cooks up an elaborate plan to meet him through an art exhibition, with assistance from a man she meets in a van. Funny, endearing, deeply 2014.

Picking Buscemi as your unattainable crush instead of an actual heartthrob is already a thesis statement. I respect the bit.
Buscemi-as-celebrity-love-object instead of Pitt is a smarter joke than it first reads, and Being-John-Malkovich-on-a-fraction is a workable ambition. Charm-dependent but charming.
A Steve Buscemi obsession as the emotional engine of an art-show con — that's a perfect, specific-enough-to-be-real character detail and the half-finished bald-Buscemi paintings are already funny. 2014 DIY at the right size.
