Everyone expects a war doc to either rage or mourn—Cizek does neither, which is refreshing, but the film's quiet faith in photography-as-bridge feels a touch too earnest for the actual mess of displacement and statecraft it's documenting.
A formally restrained work that positions itself within the lineage of collaborative documentary practice and post-conflict media activism, though the four-minute constraint leaves the philosophical rigor it's reaching for slightly out of reach.
Cizek's decision to let the children's photographs speak instead of voice-over narration—to trust the image as both document and act of connection—transforms what could've been an advocacy piece into something genuinely intimate and structurally elegant.
