In the absence of timely government emergency response to the devastation of Hurricane Sandy, one woman turns to google docs to organize the relief efforts of volunteers going door-to-door, floor-by-floor in the highrises of south Brooklyn, to aid Russian Jewish Seniors trapped in their own homes.

The scouts
Everyone expects the hurricane doc to be about infrastructure failure and systemic neglect, and yeah, that's all true—but Cizek pivots to something weirder and more human: a Google Doc as the actual emergency response infrastructure. It's almost absurdist if it weren't so necessary.
The film sits firmly in the lineage of observational documentary and community portraiture, but what distinguishes it is the formal restraint: Cizek lets the volunteer labor and the spreadsheet logistics breathe without sentimentalizing, maintaining the contemplative distance that makes the tenderness land harder.
The decision to center the Google Doc itself—to make the interface and the coordination visible rather than hidden—transforms a three-minute piece from well-intentioned footage into something structurally ingenious; suddenly you're watching how mutual aid actually organizes itself, not just the aftermath of its work.
