Versus: The Way to Shadow – A Star Wars Fan Film
2013 · 42m · Francia
Directed by Nicolas Santini
Genres: action, fantasy, sci-fi
Darius is a Jedi on the run, perhaps even the last of his order, which was reduced to nothing by what is now called the Empire. He is sought by the rebels, who have sent agents to recruit him, by the Empire and its numerous clone troops, by a mysterious bounty hunter and by a powerful Sith warrior.

A fan film that actually *earns* its right to exist by interrogating the mythic weight of the Jedi order itself—isolation, hunted legacy, the collapse of an entire belief system—instead of just cosplaying the IP. Santini gets away with something most licensed passion projects can't: genuine stakes.
The formal architecture here is classical and deliberate: a lone hero besieged from all vectors, each pressure point (Rebel, Empire, Sith, Bounty Hunter) arranged like a formal siege. It understands Star Wars as mythic structure, not property, and carries itself with the tonal rigor of cinema that knows its own lineage.
What makes this work on a shoestring is the decision to make the mythology itself the antagonist—no world-building spectacle needed when the emotional core is a Jedi watching his entire order become dust. That thematic compression does more with 42 minutes than most studios do with hundreds of millions.
