An animated short on wildfires supercharged by climate change — unplanned, unwanted and uncontrolled, destroying everything in their path — closing with a note of care and prevention.

The scouts
A climate-change PSA dressed up in animation—exactly the kind of well-intentioned, consensus-friendly message that makes me want to look away, even if Verhoef's formal choices are competent enough to almost earn it.
Verhoef positions herself squarely in the lineage of essayistic animation, and the movement design shows real consideration for pacing; the closing pivot toward care and prevention is formally elegant, though the film knows exactly what it wants to say from frame one.
The sound design—that crackle and roar pitched against near-silence—does the real work here; one choice about ambient texture transforms what could be a climate lecture into something that actually *feels* destructive, and that's where the whole short lives.
