It's a Spielbergian greeting card—competent, emotionally legible, and exactly what you'd expect a sci-fi romance to be. The holographic world-building is technically impressive but narratively safe, which means it'll play beautifully to festivals and absolutely nowhere in my mental cabinet.
Branit demonstrates formal control in the mise-en-scène and a clear lineage to magical-realist cinema and sci-fi romance traditions; the short knows its aesthetic ancestors and executes them with discipline, even if it doesn't interrogate them.
The single decision that matters here is the tactile, hands-on construction of the hologram—the choice to make digital world-building feel like intimate manual labor transforms what could've been cold spectacle into something achingly human, and that specificity is what elevates it from premise to film.
